Helping to tackle youth homelessness
We’re revisiting some of the beneficiaries of our community fund to find out how it has helped them.
Today, it’s the turn of SASH (Safe & Sound Homes).
We caught up with Deborah Rack, trust fundraiser, to learn more.
Who are SASH?
SASH is a youth homelessness charity that works across York, North and East Yorkshire.
What does the charity do?
We help young people aged 16-25 who are facing homelessness and offer activities and social opportunities to increase confidence and develop skills. We put activities such as rock climbing on to enable the young people to have fun, make friends and build confidence and teamwork.
How has the fund benefited the young people?
The funding from Stonebridge Homes has enabled young people to move on from homelessness by providing them with a safe place to stay in the home of a trained volunteer. We would like to thank Stonebridge Homes for enabling SASH to meet the expenses our volunteer hosts receive for opening their homes to young people facing homelessness. SASH volunteer hosts are ordinary people with a spare room and a will to make a difference to young people at a time of crisis or for the longer term.
Community funding
At Stonebridge Homes, we will continue to work with local charities through donations, sponsorship and time given by employees. It’s important to us to give something back to the communities in which we build.
Find a home
We have beautiful homes throughout the North East, Yorkshire and the Midlands.
