The affluent village of Armthorpe, South Doncaster, is a popular place to live, and it’s easy to see why. This suburban village in South Yorkshire has excellent transport links, a range of new homes, including our new development The Meadows, and a variety of fantastic schools for children.

And it’s not just the schools that attract families to Armthorpe. From trampoline parks and swimming pools to ice skating rinks and woodland walks, there are plenty of family attractions in the area. Check out our top 5 things to do with kids in and around Armthorpe.

Go Bounce Extreme Trampoline Park

Just a five minutes’ drive from The Meadows is Go Bounce Extreme Trampoline Park, offering a fun, energetic day out for the whole family to enjoy. With over 50 interconnected trampolines, kids and adults alike will love jumping and flipping around. There’s even tumble tracks for any budding gymnasts too. And if you’re an adrenaline junkie, we dare you to take the plunge from the 2-metre jump platform!

Go Bounce Extreme Trampoline Park also has basketball hoops where you can practice your slam dunks, rock climbing walls and you can even take part in a game of dodgeball with your friends and family too if you’re feeling competitive. With family, toddler and even sensory sessions available to book, it’s the perfect place to go for a fun, family activity.

The Dome

Come rain or shine, The Dome is a fantastic place to go if you’re looking for a fun-filled day with the kids. Located about a ten minutes’ drive from The Meadows, The Dome is one of Doncaster’s leading sports, leisure and entertainment destinations, with over 50 activities under one roof!

One of the most popular activities at The Dome is swimming, where the whole family can make a splash, whizz down water slides and brave the wild rapids. The Dome is also home to the UK’s first split-level ice rink, providing plenty of family fun on the ice. If you’ve got younger kids with a lot of energy to burn off, there’s also the Playzone, an indoor play area with a dedicated toddler area for little ones. With all of this alongside a cycle track, a gym and fitness centre, it’s no wonder why The Dome is such a popular family day out.

Sandall Beat Wood

If you’re a nature-loving family, then you won’t be disappointed if you move to Armthorpe. Just over a ten minutes’ drive from The Meadows, you’ll find Sandall Beat Wood, one of the most popular woodlands in Doncaster. Boasting 140 acres of walking paths, cycling routes, picnic spots and more, there’s something for everyone in these woodlands. There’s also a fantastic, recently revamped adventure playground for the little ones too.

For the kids that love the outdoors, there’s also Junior Rangers and Teen Rangers, which take place in the woods too. From pond dipping and shelter building to games and crafts, Junior Rangers will love getting their hands dirty and learning all about the outdoors. Teen Rangers will learn all about bush craft and survival skills, plus practical woodland management.

Astrabound Play Centre

Astrabound Play Centre is Doncaster’s biggest and best indoor play and party venue, and it’s only about a five minutes’ drive from The Meadows. This multi-level soft play centre is perfect for children between the ages of 0 and 12, and has dedicated play zones for babies, toddlers and juniors.

With soft play, ball pools and plenty of slides, it’s a great place to go where the kids can burn off some steam. For sporty little ones, there’s also an interactive sports area, where you can try your hand at football and basketball. There’s even a café at Astrabound Play Centre, meaning you can sit back, relax and enjoy a hot drink and some delicious food, whilst the children run wild.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park

If you have children and you live in Yorkshire, then the Yorkshire Wildlife Park is a must. Home to more than 475 amazing animals, it’s easy to see why it’s been named the UK’s number 1 walk-through wildlife adventure. From lions and leopards to monkeys and meerkats, there’s so much to see and do on a visit. Whether your children love rhinos, tigers, giraffes or zebras, there are over 60 different species of animals to see at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. It’s also the only place in England where you can see polar bears!

There are plenty of ranger talks that take place throughout the day too, where you can get up close to some of your favourite animals and learn all about them. If your little one is into dinosaurs, then there’s a new attraction at the park which explores the five unique lands of Pangea, a supercontinent that existed during the dinosaur days. On this immersive walk-through dinosaur experience, you’ll see over 30 life-sized moving dinosaurs. How cool is that? And if all of that wasn’t enough, it’s also just under a 15 minutes’ drive from The Meadows too.
