THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Architectural Assistant to join our team based at our head office in Horsforth, Leeds. You will be joining a growing, ambitious, successful values-led house builder covering the Yorkshire region.

The role is to provide administrative support to a highly experienced and expanding Technical department consisting of both Architectural and Engineering functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting in the maintenance and eventually taking the lead in managing the department’s ‘Filemaker’ document storage and issuing system
  • Preparing for and attending internal and external meetings and taking accurate and concise minutes
  • Handling telephone enquiries from external and internal parties
  • Printing and issuing of large-format Engineering drawing information and drawing register maintenance
  • Effective logging of RFI’s from both the office-based and site-based sales and construction teams
  • Liaising closely with external bodies including the issuing of the mandatory and requested information
  • Liaising with our in-house solicitor and through use of the industry recognised Computer-Aided Design software (AutoCAD), ensure timely production and upkeep of the estate and individual conveyance documentation
  • The ability to develop skills and knowledge supported by a structured training and development plan in order to progress in a growing business as appropriate
  • Contributing to the production of house type planning drawings for submission in planning applications
  • Assisting in the support and continuous improvement of the Stonebridge house type portfolio
  • Contributing to the production of standard construction detail drawings used to supplement the working drawing packs to ensure consistency and quality across all outlets
  • Contributing to the checking process of internally produced marketing literature and externally produced 3rd party designs

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to prioritise a demanding workload
  • Develop strong computer-related skills both on Word and Excel
  • Demonstrate high levels of attention to detail
  • Work effectively within a team whilst also being self-motivated
  • Ideally, have experience in the use of 2D AutoCAD although this isn’t imperative
  • Be enthusiastic, inquisitive and forthcoming
  • Have a minimum of English and Maths GCSE
  • Previous experience within the construction industry would be advantageous but is by no means mandatory
