THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planner to join our team based at our head office in Horsforth, Leeds. You will be joining a growing, ambitious, successful values led house builder covering the Yorkshire region.
The role is to promote and manage the planning elements for land opportunities in both the short and long term to deliver the business plan and maximise profits aligned to our brand values.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Provide effective project management and delivery of the planning application process aligned to the business plan
  • Monitor and analyse government policies and documentation to make commercially sound and safe recommendations
  • Seek pre-application advice to inform land acquisition and planning programme
  • Establish and appoint consultants to deliver the plans in line with selection criteria
  • Preparation and submission of planning application
  • Attend site visits to inform planning applications and submission
  • Prepare key planning documentation and deliver this to key colleagues and external bodies in a timely fashion
  • Ensure submission of ancillary applications to enable site start
  • Proactively advise and highlight any delays to timescales, offering contingency solutions
  • Develop, deliver and review regular engagement with key stakeholders
  • Prepare and coordinate consultation events that are effective and promote the Stonebridge brand
  • Identify and act upon opportunities to promote sites under the Local Plan
  • Ensure that external bodies are proceeding and progressing in line with Planning Performance Agreement
  • Gain and share effective understanding of current and future planning situations for each active region
  • Drive favourable outcomes through proactive engagement and promotion of the Stonebridge brand
  • Manage relationships with Local Authority planning departments
  • Provide robust evidence of site viability for planning purposes
  • Provide and gain regular feedback and updates on agreed focus areas, within agreed timescales as determined by the business

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Planning related qualification gained or equivalent experience
  • Experience of both public and private bodies within Planning Development Control
  • Significant working knowledge of the house building industry
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of urban design principles
  • Experience of negotiation and procurement
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Significant working knowledge of regulations and legislation pertaining to land acquisition and home building
  • Commercially astute
  • Ability to use various IT systems and processes effectively and efficiently contributing to the training and support of new team members as and when required
