THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Land Quantity Surveyor to join our team based at our head office in Horsforth, Leeds. You will be joining a growing, ambitious, successful values-led house builder covering the Yorkshire region.
As part of the Land team, you will be responsible for delivering land appraisals, ensuring that opportunities are commercially viable and that Stonebridge is competitive within the land market. This role is vital to the continual supply of land in accordance with our Business Plan and Company Values.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Co-ordinate the land viability process from point of identification of site through to exchange of contracts
  • Prepare land viabilities to assist the Land team in securing new land opportunities
  • Understand key areas of assessment and advise on the viability of a land opportunity in the early stages
  • Review initial land information pack and use information provided from other departments to assess ongoing cost requirements
  • Review site abnormal issues and areas of risk and work with colleagues in the Technical and Commercial teams to develop viable solutions and advise on associated costs
  • Interpret and evaluate planning, technical and engineering drawings to calculate and measure quantities to achieve accurate costings
  • Evaluate all ground remediation appraisals
  • Calculate core costs on developments, analysing and reporting on any cost changes at crucial project milestones
  • Work with colleagues and external stakeholders collaboratively to ensure all viability updates are recorded and understood
  • Maintain a database of standard costs
  • Liaise with external contractors to obtain quotations of abnormal items

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years Senior QS or QS experience within the house building sector
  • Good IT skills
  • High levels of attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and key colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as collaboratively
  • Ability to prioritise workload ensuring deadlines are met
