THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team based at our head office in Horsforth, Leeds. You will be joining a growing, ambitious, successful values led house builder covering the Yorkshire region.
The role is to carry out tasks which support the QS, Buyer and Commercial Director in the running of the Commercial Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Carry out tasks to assist in the pre-measurement and evaluation from drawings for labour costs, bills of quantity and subcontract trades to produce initial commencement budgets.
  • Collate information for inclusion in tender documents. Send out tender enquiry documentation to suppliers and subcontractors
  • Carry out initial comparison of tenders and seek additional information as necessary
  • Accompany the Senior QS or QS on regular site visits. Assist in carrying out site measurement and checking
  • Collate, update and input information relating to site budgets
  • Carry out analysis and investigation as required
  • Input data required to produce payment certificates for authorisation by Senior QS or QS
  • Assist in the resolution of queries on subcontractor invoices
  • Mark up work completed on plans as instructed by Senior QS or QS
  • Undertake any training necessary to fulfil duties and responsibilities
  • Actively review work activities and suggest areas for improvement
  • Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the level and responsibilities of the post
  • Work in harmony with all other personnel and to communicate in an open and courteous manner with colleagues and customers

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent maths, written skills and high levels of attention to detail
  • Keen to learn and comfortable working in a small team
  • Self-motivated with a natural curiosity
